Pricing Artificially Inflated?

 

Another round of price increases for plastic products are coming at us.  The rumor mill is alive with the forecasts of the number of increases and the total amount. The most aggressive forecasts call for three increases in the next 60 to 90 days with the total increase being over 17 cents a pound from today's prices.

Items included in the price increase are not only products made out of plastic such as automobiles, eye glasses and can liners, but also those items that are packaged in plastic products such as soft drinks, milk, meats and shampoo.

Paper Vs. Plastic

More and more cities across the US such as Seattle are attempting to reduce waste by banning the use of plastic bags. Sounds like a good idea, but do they really have all the facts?

Do they know it takes almost four times as much energy to manufacture a paper bag as it does to manufacture a polyethylene bag? Paper bags also use more fossil fuel and 20 times more fresh water during the manufacturing process.

A Screw-Top Lid Saved My Marriage

It’s beginning of a new year and I’m happy to say that all our holiday decorations have been stored away for another 11 months. With that comes some merging and purging and pre-spring cleaning (although here in Tampa, mid-seventy temperatures make it feel like spring).

So in the midst of cleaning, I gave some much-needed attention to my plastic container cabinet (otherwise known as CHAOS).
